Integrative Health Summit 2026 Speaker
Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, DACM, MSOM, LAc

Primary area of expertise
East Asian and Integrative Medicine
Session
This session explores what East Asian Medicine actually means by Qi, and how modern acupuncture research can help explain classical concepts without reducing them to simplistic ideas like "energy." Dr. Ingegno connects traditional ideas of flow and regulation with research into mechanisms including autonomic nervous system regulation, endocannabinoid signaling, adenosine, endorphins, fascia, and point specificity.
Attendees will gain a practical understanding of why acupuncture is worth considering, not only when something hurts, but as part of a broader approach to maintaining health and function over time, and will become more informed consumers of integrative care.
Dr. Tom Ingegno, DACM, MSOM, LAc, is a licensed acupuncturist, author, educator, and founder of Charm City Integrative Health in Baltimore. He has practiced East Asian Medicine for more than 25 years and is the author of The Cupping Book and You Got Sick, Now What?
Tom has lectured for healthcare professionals, universities, and the U.S. Department of Defense, and his work has been featured in WebMD, Forbes, The Baltimore Sun, and the New York Post. He also co-hosts Irreverent Health, a long-running podcast exploring health, healing, consciousness, and the stranger edges of medicine.
Across his clinical work, writing, teaching, and media, Tom focuses on making East Asian Medicine understandable without stripping away its history, complexity, or meaning.
